When Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities were attacked earlier this month, the price of oil worldwide increased, including gas prices in Ohio. To Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), the attack only further illustrated the importance of robust domestic energy for national security, global stability, and consumer protection alike. Today, Latta introduced a resolution encouraging continued technological innovation and adoption of an all-of-the-above domestic energy approach. Click here to read the text of the resolution. “Thanks to America’s energy renaissance, more oil and natural gas are being produced domestically than by any other nation in the world,” said Latta. “While this is good news, the fact that the United States still imports 29 percent of all its petroleum from OPEC countries is a sign that our government should be doing everything we can to support all domestic sources of energy development in an effort to achieve full energy security.” Today’s energy resolution builds off Congressman Latta’s record of supporting an all-of-the-above approach to energy. Earlier this month, he voted against several bills aimed at reducing domestic energy production, including bans on offshore drilling and drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), arguing that these efforts jeopardize the quality of life and national security advances our country has made over the past few years. |
