Today, Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5), a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement after voting in favor of HR. 7176, the Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act, which would immediately reverse President Biden’s de facto ban on American liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports: “America must continue to lead in energy production and exportation to secure energy independence and compete globally. The quickest way to kneecap our economy and cut jobs is by banning the export of American liquefied natural gas. The Biden administration’s move to do just that will have serious ramifications on America’s energy and economic security. Not to mention, this move will force our allies and other nations to depend on foreign adversaries – like Russia – for their energy. That’s why, today, I voted to reverse the Biden administration’s misguided LNG export ban. I want to thank my colleague on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. August Pfluger, for leading this important legislation.” Last week, Latta joined more than 150 House Republicans in sending a letter to President Biden demanding he end the ban on LNG exports. Latta also participated in an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing to examine the Biden administration’s LNG export ban and how it threatens America’s energy and economic security.
