Good Riddance on 1099 Reporting Requirement

Washington, March 3, 2011 | Izzy Santa ((202) 226-4356)

Congressman Bob Latta (R, Bowling Green) issued the following statement with respect to the passage of H.R.4, the "Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011”:

“The House eliminated this onerous tax provision, lifting an unnecessary burden on small business owners who already struggle with unmanageable paperwork. The 1099 repeal protects small businesses, their workers and American taxpayers.  It reduces the deficit by $166 million in the first 10 years, while cutting federal spending by $20 billion over ten years and reducing taxes by $19.7 billion.

“It is refreshing to see that Obamacare supporters realize the insanity of this reporting requirement.  Now we need the Senate to join arms with House Republicans and approve this legislation that frees American job creators from this burdensome tax provision.”
