Today marks the day Ohioans have finally earned enough money to pay off their total tax obligations at the federal, state and local levels. Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement in recognition of Ohio’s Tax Freedom Day, April 6th:

“Starting tomorrow, Ohio taxpayers can begin to reap the benefits of their hard work, using their incomes for what they want instead of sending it to an out-of-control Washington.

“It’s irresponsible for Congress to make earning a living in America such a difficult process. We need lower taxes for individuals and businesses now. We must stop our deficit spending at the expense of future generations.

“For this reason, the Senate must pass H.R. 1 this week which cuts $61 billion from current spending levels. “

It takes 96 work days for an Ohio taxpayer to pay off their tax bill according to the Tax Foundation, which calculates Tax Freedom Day based on income, Social Security, sales, property and other taxes.
