The Labor Department released its latest jobs numbers today, reporting the unemployment rate unchanged at 8.2%. In addition, only 80,000 new jobs were added in the month of June. Upon the release of these jobs numbers, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) issued the following statement: “Today’s jobs numbers are a dismal outlook for our country and clearly show that the President’s policies are unsuccessful and not moving forward. American families are struggling with many working in jobs that are well below their skill level. Roughly 15% of Americans are currently unemployed and underemployed. “According to the recent statistics, the economy has only added an average of 75,000 jobs per month in the April-June quarter. To move towards a healthy recovery we need to add at least 200,000 jobs per month. These numbers prove that President Obama’s massive federal spending and policies have failed to turn around our economy.” |
